Lab Monitors are scholarship students, usually in high school, who are after-school aides for Music Works piano students. They work for 3-4 hours per week
The 2024-25 Academic School year monitors come from a variety of local high schools: Sunnyslope, Arizona School for the Arts (ASA), St. Francis, and Great Hearts! Monitors set up the learning stations with the assignments for the week, they answer questions and help students, troubleshoot equipment when nonfunctional and provide helpful notes to instructors when students do have questions and need further help.
During the COVID Pandemic, the InStudio lab rapidly became the Virtual Musicianship Lab – an on-line learning platform that evolved during the Spring, Summer and Fall of 2020. Francisco Naranjo assumed the job of Lab Coordinator during the pandemic years. He and Carolyn Inabinet worked long hours to build the on-line platform.
As 2021 began, the lab became hybrid and provided BOTH InStudio and Virtual Learning platforms. The monitors are now back InStudio assisting students in their setup and assignments. Currently, Carolyn is Lab Coordinator and oversees both Virtual and InStudio Labs.
